Weekend With Roger Morrision & Nancy Herrick

On October 26-29th I attended the seminar with Nancy Herrick and Roger Morrison in New York. It was my 3rd seminar out of 4 that they organized in Manhattan. In previous seminars they explored miasms and kingdoms. Their approach to teaching is very systematic and practical. I had a clear understanding of miasms after the first seminar. The second one gave me good understanding of kingdoms.

This seminar was focused on “putting it all together”. Roger Morrison and Nancy Herrick presented cases, and step by step analysis – how to get the sensation, the miasm, the kingdom, subkingdom and subsequently the remedy.

What to do when patient stays at the level of emotions? Emotions are not helpful in finding the remedy using sensational method. I usually try to avoid going with patient to emotional experiences. Roger and Nancy gave practical hints how to help patient express his sensations when he started talking about emotions.

Roger Morrison said that in majority of his cases patients do not name “the source”. In my experience this is true. While I have some fascinating cases when patients name the source, for the most part they don’t. But patients give clues about the nature of the source. Roger and Nancy taught systematic approach to looking for these clues. As a part of this approach they showed how to identify the animal remedy on the basis of kingdom and miasm.

Nancy did a lot of animal provings. I bought her book “Animal Mind, Human Voices”. They presented cases of different mammals and explained how to differentiate between them on the basis of miasm and characteristic traits of the species. They presented cases of Lac lupinum and Lac equinum, and discussed differences between these remedies and other mammalian remedies, such as Lac delphinium, Lac loxodonta, Lac leoninum.

The case I liked the most was the case of a child with rheumatoid arthritis. Some practitioners find kids cases easy. I don’t. It is not easy to get information for solid prescribing. Nancy showed how she gets this information by observing the child. History of adoption in family, sadness, bossy, desire for salads – Mag-sulph. Nice classic case taking.

The conference was well organized. Thanks to Kathy Lukas. The auditorium was full, but for this World class level of teaching the number of attendees could be higher. The number of physicians was unusually high but still below my expectation. Next seminar is in Spring of 2008, if I am not mistaken. I rate this seminar “Five Stars”.
